In person or Virtual

Initially, Tom and the client will meet for a free consultation either at the client’s location, or an arranged meeting place or virtually. Appointments at the artist’s studio can be made (Ask Tom for details). At this meeting Tom will discuss the composition, medium and size with the client. Artwork can be created from real life or photos. If the client prefers a life setting, portrait settings or sketching sessions can be made with the artist. If a client lives outside the state of Maine, Tom can work from photos sent via mail or electronic mail. Tom prefers to work from client or self-created photos due to copyright laws. 

Image Composition

Then, Tom will either compose an image digitally using photographs or create them with pencil sketches. A second meeting can be arranged to discuss the next phase of the artwork. the composition and final size and framing/shipping will be discussed. At the second meeting, a 25% deposit of the total price is required, and a due date for the artwork will be agreed upon by both the artist and client. A twenty-five-dollar nonrefundable deposit is due to cover the artist’s time if the client chooses not to have the work commissioned after the second meeting. 

Creation and Delivery

Next, Tom begins the process of creating the artwork once both parties agree on the composition and style. Digital or photo prints of the in-progress work will be sent to the client for any further instructions. The remainder of the agreed price will be due before the completed work is shipped. Framing and Shipping costs will be discussed and vary depending on market conditions.
